The One about Halo Top Ice Cream

While I have eliminated ice cream from my weekly eating ritual months ago, I was told by a friend that there is a healthy alternative.

But the truth is, I was skeptical because a lot of companies say they are healthy, when they really are not.

But when I saw many other diabetics and healthy conscious people recommending Halo Top Creamery, all natural, all light ice cream.  I had to give it a try!

Halo Top Creamery was founded by Justin Woolverton (founder and CEO) and is a lawyer looking for other things to do.  Being severely hypoglycemic, he began to formulate a recipe to create ice cream that is healthy.

In an interview with foodnavigator-usa.com, Justin said “If you are eating an extremely low sugar diet it’s hard to eat anything that looks like ice cream”, he said.  “I need something sweet because I was so sick of eating low sugar.”

What I love about Halo Top is that it tastes delicious and amazingly low on calories (per pint), low on sugar and carbs.  Immediately that caught my attention as I often get too low on blood sugar and for me, I’m not one to eat a whole pint real fast. I just need about a tablespoon (or two) and I’m good for the day(s).

The primary four flavors were vanilla bean, chocolate, lemon cake and strawberry.  They have since added mint chip, chocolate mocha chip and birthday cake.

They promote their ice cream as all-natural, no artificial sweeteners, no corn syrup, vegetarian-friendly and no synthetic growth hormones.

I purchase the following three (as I can’t find the other flavors anywhere else):

For the Vanilla Bean, the ingredients include: Milk and cream, eggs, erythritol, prebiotic fiber, milk protein concentrate, organic cane sugar, vegetable glycerin, organic vanilla extract, organic vanilla beans, sea salt, organic carob gum, organic guar gum, organic stevia.

For the Chocolate, the ingredients include: Milk and cream, eggs, erythritol, prebiotic fiber, milk protein concentrate, organic cane sugar, high fat cocoa, vegetable glycerin, sea salt, organic carob gum, organic guar gum, organic stevia.

For the Lemon Cake, the ingredients include: Milk and cream, eggs, erythritol, prebiotic fiber, milk protein concentrate, organic cane sugar, vegetable glycerin, sea salt, organic lemon peel, organic lemon oil, organic sunflower oil, organic carob gum, organic guar gum, organic stevia.

The fact that Halo Top has provided a natural alternative that is healthy, has made it one of the healthiest ice creams in the market.  Diabetics have seen an increase of blood sugar by 15-20 on their meter and have proclaimed this ice cream as safe.

The company even goes far into utilizing cage free eggs, making sure their milk is growth hormone free and uses chicory root as a bulking agent.

Also, the company uses stevia/erythritol instead of aspertame.

For the most part, I’m glad that people recommended me this ice cream.

I absolutely love it and I highly recommend it!
