The One About the JCP Stafford Logan Wingtip Blucher

When Dappered.com listed the JC Penny’s Stafford Logan Wingtip Blucher (note: the website uses the word “Oxford”) as one of “The best looking dress shoes under $200”, I must admit that I was a skeptic.

For one, it’s called an oxford, but the shoes don’t featured closed lacing.  Blucher’s feature open lacing and thus, this shoe is a blucher, not an oxford.  You can read more about it here.

But part of my skepticism rests on its pricing.  The Stafford Logan Wingtip versions for black and brown were going for $35 but the cognac version was going for $90 ($76 with the January 2015 discount).

It literally took me nearly two hours of going back and forth if I really wanted to purchase these shoes, because there are other blucher’s out there being sold.  Some expensive, some that weren’t but I tend to trust Joe of Dapper.com’s recommendations and so I had to give it a test.

Surprisingly, I received the shoe two days later and was amazed of how good these shoes looked.

The shoe features a full-grain breathable leather upper, and sock leather and textile lining.  They are  lace up, features a comfortable footbed (I wore this to work all day with no additional padding that I tend to insert).  And the man-made sole is thermoplastic rubber and the shoe is made in Bangladesh.

The shoe is glued on rather well and I didn’t get the impression after wearing them that the shoe and the rubber sole would separate easily.

For those wondering if they need to purchase these shoes one size lower or higher, should have not to worry.  They fit to size, so if you are size 11, they are size 11.  I also felt there was a good amount of width because most size 11’s, I need to order them a little wide.  But the shoe was wide and did not pinch or affect my pinky toe, which is a plus.

I wore these shoes with dark blue pants and received compliments throughout the day of how cool the shoes looked.  And I have to admit myself that I was quite amazed of how well this shoe looked and felt.

Sure, the other two versions of the shoe are much more cheaper but anyone looking for blucher’s will definitely want to give the JCP Stafford Logan Wingtip Blucher’s a try!  They are that awesome!
